9 Mar 2008 - RESULT - u12s run ends at LTD

LTD VIPERS  2-0  THAMES GATEWAY

The u12s great unbeaten run came to an end after 24 matches and 13 months.  In that time we have won 20 of the games.

In terms of this match our first half performance lacked our usual spark and we were second to every ball.  LTD had put us under pressure and for 20 mins we were on the back foot.  As the half wore on we started to push forward and it looked like the half would end 0-0.  An injury to an LTD player resulted in a few shouts for the ball to be kicked out and some of our players forgot the first rule of football - play to the whistle!  LTD played the ball through and the striker took his chance well.

A re-organisation at half time resulted in a much improved performance.  We had much more possession and created several chances but just couldn't force the equaliser.  In the last few minutes we threw caution to the wind and pushed forward, LTD broke and grabbed a second goal and the points.

We know we can play a whole lot better than this, we were a shadow of the team that knocked LTD out of the cup on our run to the final.  LTD deserved the win today, no argument.

Our challenge is to bounce back quickly and keep the pressure on the teams around us at the top of the league.

Plenty of hard work to follow at training, I know all of the u12s will be up for the challenge.
