16 Mar 2008 - RESULT - u12s bounce back

THAMES GATEWAY  6-1  PEGASUS

In difficult conditions the u12s came back strong from last week's defeat and produced a great win.  It was cold, wet and windy at Lakeside and the conditions were always going to make it difficult but both teams did their best to play football.

With the strong wind in our favour first half we put Pegasus under a lot of pressure, but they defended well with the keeper pulling off a string of excellent saves.  Finally, after 21 minutes Taylor applied a cool finish after Mataj had played a great pass to him and we had the lead.  Shortly after, Chulakasevee chipped the advancing keeper and just before half time grabbed his second and our third with a left foot shot in to the corner.

Against the wind in the second half it was more difficult to keep the pressure up but the boys played some great football.  After 44 minutes Chulakasevee got his hat trick to cap a superb Man of the Match display.

Taylor scored his second after Mataj sent him through one on one with the keeper. Mataj scored in injury time to cap a great display, his shot on the volley as he turned was excellent.

Pegasus had their chances, hitting the post and drawing saves from Loraine before scoring.  Loraine had saved the first shot well but the striker was quickest to react.

But Thames could have had more - Taylor had his penalty well saved to deny him his hat trick, B Harris had one cleared off the line and two well saved by the keeper and Mole hit a thunderbolt with his left foot that came back off the bar.

A note too for C Harris at the back and Keiller in midfield who played well but this was a great team performance and a well needed return to winning ways.

Well played everyone.
