30 Mar 2008 - RESULT - u12s beaten in Pennant

THAMES GATEWAY 1-7 STANFORD WANDERERS

Taking nothing away from Stanford, who played and finished well, this was an opportunity to experiment a little as we had already qualified for the quarter final.

We had planned to try a series of new formations and to give several players the chance to play in different positions and we did exactly that.  However, this upset our usual rhythm and with Stanford playing so well it meant mistakes were punished.

The first half performance was poor and we were slow to get started but the second half we retained our shape better and, despite playing with 10 men for several minutes, scored a great goal when Taylor played a superb ball through to MullerMuller controlled it well, beat the defender and struck a sweet shot in to the corner.

Man of the match was O'Shea who defended brilliantly thorughout.

As Kev said at the end the result didn't matter, this was about taking the chance to try some new things.  We learned a lot and can work on the mistakes in training.
